Album Notes

"As a songwriter, when our nation's drug laws became an important issue to me, naturally the songs followed. As an activist, I have used my songwriting skills as a tool to reach people I might not have been able to communicate with otherwise." Glenwood Smith

Something's Gotta Change is 11 songs written from true personal experience and conviction, and written across a variety of genres to reach a diverse audience, and to inspire them to join in, stand up and demand an end to this century old war.
Something's Gotta Change, 14 years in the making, is the culmination of wrongful arrests, unconstitutional stops and searches, and an ever growing outrage over this ever growing police state we call the land of the free!
Something's Gotta Change isn't just another "pot and beer, lines on the mirror" CD. This recording deals with the horrors and the failure of the War on Drugs, and how they affect everyone and not just the user.
Smith is also the author of the website the Hemp Historian at hemphistorian.com as well as the founder of the GSB.
The Hemp Historian is a brief summary of Marijuana’s history, its prohibition and its current status in America today. Ethan Nadelmann of the Drug Policy Alliance said this about the Hemp Historian, "Thanks for your good words and work." NORML wrote, "This site is well laid out and very informative. Smith is an excellent spokesperson for marijuana law reform."
But music is Glenwood’s first love, and this CD is the proof!
"I believe that music is the most powerful form of communication humans have. Music physically and emotionally moves people. Music can stir, inspire and change the listener, as well as find its way into the brain's permanent memory banks. Music is also universal, and the conqueror of human barriers and prejudice." Glenwood Smith
Something’s Gotta Change is definitely a recording that stirs and inspires from the first song to the last.
This music is infectious and something you’ll find yourself wanting to listen to over and over again!
The musicianship and instrumentation found on this disk are incredible and are as equally moving as the message.
The GSB has truly delivered with this recording.
A forceful cry for truth and justice flowing on the melodies of a proficient composer and driven by the masterful skills of the talented artists that comprise this project.
This combination makes Something's Gotta Change a rare gem in the musical world today across any genre, and at any level of professionalism.

"Thanks to everyone who has been an intricate part of this dream, including you. Thanks for listening!" Glenwood Smith

Staggering!

Mind-blowing lyrics and scorching rock-n-roll all wrapped up into one smokin' CD! Enlightening, pleasing to the senses and no sugar coating. Rx - One full dose to be taken on an open mind by all, regardless of age, race or creed. Side effects may include involuntary muscular contraction (i.e., head nodding, tapping of the feet, etc.) and sudden urges to sing along and/or agree with the singer. Listening to this CD has proven to be habit forming!

Constructive and provocative lyrically, with well conceived arrangements. Glenwood Smith provides an honest, pointedly substantiated stance on the ill conceived and indefinite "War on Drugs", which has proven a failure both in policy and effect by creating the largest non-violent prison population on the face of the planet, as well as creating a more profitable trade environment for the criminally inclined. The album provides a healthy dose of perspective to a subject easily overlooked in such turbulent times, and testifies the very principle for which we are fighting and dying, the principle of Freedom, and freedom starts at home.
