"This CD is dedicated to all the people who have been an intricate part in the GSB dream, and features them as the songwriter.
"These are the musicians I am indebted to, not only for their help with these recordings, but for their friendship and the memories we've shared over the years.
"Every one of them is here because they are the most phenomenal artists I have ever had the privilege to work with in all of my years as a musician!
"Since 9-9-99, when we first started recording Calm The Fire, these people have been the steam driving my machine. They have put up with my madness, they have tolerated my demands and they have contributed to this, my dream, in ways that I could never have imagined.
"I could never thank them enough or begin to repay them for all that they have, and all that they are helping me accomplish." Glenwood Smith (excerpts from the GSB website)
Partners In Time is Glenwood Smith's small way of saying thanks to the small group of people without whom his recordings would not be a reality: Jere Stryker- owner of Stryker Studios, creative collaborator, percussionist and vocalist, Jo Hill- initial website and album artist and vocalist, Mark Earp- creative collaborator, guitarist and vocalist, Wayne Adams- bass guitarist, and Kristen Nicole Smith- creative collaborator, pianist and vocalist.
Two other artists who have been vital to the GSB recording process, and must be mentioned, are Randy Poindexter- guitars, banjo, mandolin and fiddle, and Jeff Hoff- guitarist and vocalist.
Partners In Time is truly one of the most unique recordings released by the GSB to date.
Although it has the same qualities of previous GSB titles, great songwriting, introspective lyrics and awesome musicianship, it varies in that it features four different vocalists, four new songwriters and three entirely different bands with 5 of the 10 songs used with permission from three completely different CDs (two CDs which feature Smith.)
And unlike the previous GSB titles with their diversity among genres, Partners In Time is just great rock and roll from the 1st number to the last!
Partners In Time also differs because Smith is promoting his "partners" talents and genius on this project, as well as his own songwriting.
But Smith's songwriting is another of the CD's familiarities, because it features some of his best creations along with two more of his many collaborations with guitarist Mark Earp.
Partners In Time also features a rare gathering of the former members of the band Dreams, one of the 1st live incarnations of the GSB, playing on the Adams/Smith collaboration, "Do You Think She Cares?"
So, is Partners In Time a great CD because it's different, or because it's the same? Only the listener can decide.
But whether it's the differences or the similarities, Partners In Time is arguably one of the best GSB disks yet, and Smith is not ashamed to agree.
"Having had the privilege to work with people who are this talented, and yet who respect my work enough to devote the time and physical effort they have given to the GSB is an overwhelming source of pride and humility for me. I love them and thank God for bringing them into my life. This album is because of them, about them and for them!" Glenwood Smith
"Thanks to everyone who has been an intricate part of this dream, including you. Thanks for listening!" Glenwood Smith
