From A Review by Debi Winston-Buzil of Yoga Chicago magazine.
Chill Children is a meditation CD from Global Family Yoga. Chill Children allows the practitioner, whether a big or small person, to remember his or her own true nature. And that true nature is divine, stress free, and connected. A deep relaxation is cultivated, along with the knowledge that we are love. Chill Children is geared for kids, but parents, teens, and friends will also benefit from these practices.
The voice behind Global Family Yoga is Mira Binzen. Composed mainly of Mira's voice taking the listener on a journey, there are a few sound effects that deepen the practice throughout the eight tracks. “Shining Star,” which follows the short “Dead Bug” relaxation, is an easy take on yoga nidra (a guided deep relaxation). This practice focuses on different parts of the body, asking each part to release when touched by starlight. This is a great way for kids and adults to connect to themselves physically and invoke the relaxation response.
“The Worry Witch” is a story with a technique that I now use myself. As an insomniac worrier (although not a witch!), I can now use the technique of leaving my troubles and fears in the basket of the Worry Witch. She will then stitch them together into an enormous beautiful blanket. It's a beautiful yogic synergism: we get rid of our “stuff,” which then transforms into an exquisite quilt.
Chill Children is a meditation CD that I am very thankful for. As the parent of two kids, ages five and eight, this CD has helped to sooth and relax all of us. And I mean all of us! Road tripping for a week with my kids in the mountains, these meditations, along with Mira's skillful soothing voice, coaxed an ornery cranky family into rested, nice people. “Magic Carpet Ride” --the only track that features music throughout---took my kids and me to a much better place. Kids and grown-ups all need to chill out.
