Album Notes

The Globus project was born out of one composer's passion for lush, dramatic and epic cinematic music. Composer and Producer Yoav Goren has made a career from this passion - he is co-founder of L.A's Immediate Music, the world's most successful production company specializing in music for film trailers.

Goren has taken his existing trailer music compositions and fused them with contemporary styles and vocals to create the album 'EPICON'. Having recorded over 3 hours of material with 100 piece orchestra and 70 piece choir, some at London’s famous Abbey Road Studio 1, Goren spent an additional year with many talented collaborating musicians in producing the 70 minute CD.

Talented film score soloist Lisbeth Scott (Chronicles of Narnia, Munich, Passion of the Christ) kicks off the album with “Preliator”, a track whose orchestral origin was heavily used in promoting Sony Pictures’ blockbuster “Spiderman 2”. In layering Lisbeth’s powerful Latin language vocal with driving percussion and aggressive choir, the track lays the groundwork for the unique sound and style of “EPICON”. Scott Ciscon provides an incredible tenor solo in “Madre Terra”, which features lyrics co-written by Frank Musker (Il Divo, Hayley Westerna, Josh Groban). Dann P from UK rock band Vanton fuses his gritty vocal style atop lush orchestral and choir selections such as "Orchard of Mines" and “Sarabande Suite” (based on Handel’s famous work). Anneke Van Giersburgen, lead singer from the heavy rock Dutch group The Gathering, provides an amazing vocal and lyric for "Might Rivers Runs", and is featured singing in Latin on the powerful "Diem Ex Dei". The choir takes the spotlight on "La Coronacion" and "Crusaders of the Light", which blend powerful melodies and soaring orchestral performances with a dramatic sensibility borne out of Goren's long and deep infusion in the cinematic world.

"EPICON" is the first release for Imperativa Records, with productions in the works for more "trailer music" and soundtrack releases in the near future. The CD comes with a beautiful booklet containing song lyrics, striking artwork and photos.

"EPICON" evokes so many different emotions set against an inescapable visual tapestry - from dark fantasy to hopeful romance and ethnic flavors from many corners of the world. It is a trailblazing CD which Goren hopes will spur mainstream interest in this stylized yet instantly identifiable, and addictive, brand of music.

Hidden Treasure!
author: Thylia
All these years I've been sifting through other genres looking for something like this and it always eluded me. I don't think any music has ever gotten such a powerful response from me. I can't remember ever getting such a surge of emotion from any music before that I almost couldn't contain myself; until now. Almost every time I hear some of these songs, I'm stuck with an overwhelming lump in my throat somewhere between weeping and bursting into song with the choir. That might sound silly, but it the truth. This is exactly what I've been looking for. :) And as someone mentioned earlier: everywhere else seems to have this CD for $40+! Can't say enough good things about CDBaby!

Orchestra Comes Alive
author: Aaron Tobias
This CD is thrilling and utilizes the major elements in trailor music to which Globas is recognized for. The words are very beuatiful but it is the resonance and beauty of the orchestra and choir that lends this CD a remarkabley emotional and powerful sound texture. There are some references to Chritsitinity and in some cases judaism in one or two songs but most of these songs are universally applicable and can be enjoyed by any music lover. This is a must buy!!
