Album Notes

Compared with a smokey Joni Mitchell or a deeper voiced Judi Collins, one listen to Gloria Jean and you'll hear the sweet as honey, beautiful folk voice delivering her original songs about love and life. After singing her way through as many high school courses as she could (Buffy Sainte Marie songs for Social Studies, Simon and Garfunkle for English) in her hometown of Syosset, Long Island, NY, she began singing in the college coffeehouses of Long Island and upstate New York. Music led her many places (from Austin to Boston) and songwriting led her to Rosanne Cash's OMEGA workshops (which were VERY encouraging) and later Jimmie Dale Gilmore's OMEGA workshops (very inspiring). Most of *live was recorded, well, live . . . at the famous Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, NY, on 9/9/99. With a few extra songs for good measure, Gloria Jean's first cd was released later that year. Gloria now writes for and performs with her band, all-SHe-wrote.
