notes

Goisman,

A unique name, and like many of us with odd names, a name that stands out. I am proud to have "cooled" it up with the artwork on "Words of Meaning and Purpose" as well as the Music.

I've played with several local Tucson Bands doing covers and originals; with sample covers from groups such as RUSH, The Cult, The Police, Oingo Boingo, Zepplin, Boston, Journey, Styx, Motley Crue, Poison, Warrant, U2, and plenty more.

Experiences with these bands ranged from huge energenic shows performed in front of 1000+ member audiences (as an opening band for a major label), to cozy jams for 10+ person gigs. Although playing in a band was fun, there was always something keeping us from the next level: Creative differences, money, timing, etc... I decided to go solo in order to get my music out. Not only that, but I had pretty much composed the entire songs and wanted to record as many of those tracks as possible myself.

The vocals and background vocals weren't too tough as I could hit baratone thru alto male notes and give a pretty convincing effect of different people singing. I do have to admit to using effects to achieve the "Barry White" sounding bass vocals in "I am Saved".

I was also a guitarist before singing, so the rythm, accoustic, and lead work wasn't a stretch either. Plus the experience helped me pick up the bass guitar a little easier, and may have influenced my bass composition style.

Thankfully a friend convinced me not to record the drums. I ended up with his brother, Matt Cherrill, a pretty talented young drummer playing for Supathrive, a local Phoenix trio. His influences from The Police, Chile Peppers, and his own creativity complemented my precussive vision for the songs. Matt, you really made these come alive - Thx!

Two songs on the album, "Let it Go" and "Lounge Lizard" were in need of horns. So I put down some synthesized trumpet and trombone and found a talented Sax player, Randy Derr. Hopefully you can hear his sax solo in the two minute sample of "Let it Go", it is a thing of beauty - if you dig horns.

Words of Meaning and Purpose is the first of what I hope will be four CDs (and maybe more). The lyrics do have meaning and weren't just slapped together formulaic crap.

Thanks in advance to those of you giving Words of Meaning and Purpose a listen.
