The Golden Greys’ songs may at times border on the whimsical and the absurd, but if dreams are experiences, and memories cannot be found in the remains of our loved ones; who is to say what is or isn't real?
Mich and Darren played together for years before playing under the new moniker, The Golden Greys, they went in to the studio and with the help of Javier Garavito they completed their first full-length album, "Hold Up the Vanguard".
Soon after they finished recording, they met Daniel. Daniel's style and disposition made him a natural fit, and he has helped to bridge the great span of influences within the band, while adding a fresh take on the songwriting process.
The Golden Greys began playing live shows around Seattle in early November of 2008. Comparisons have been made to Elvis Costello, Wilco, REM, Bob Mould, Sebadoh, and Guided By Voices; while the comparisons are sincere and flattering, the Golden Greys invite you to try their music with an open mind.
Praise for "Hold Up the Vanguard":
“Dreamy garage pop – jangly guitar, melodic bass lines, and dynamic drums propel poignant lyrics full of imagery and wonder.”
“You can practically see the late afternoon sunlight streaming from the chiming guitars and rolling rhythms of ‘Clouds (Parts II & III)’."
“Solid pop-rock dressed up with punk and alternative twists!”
