This song is for the baby boomers - those who lived their youth through the 60's and 70's, when music, literature and cinematography supported the policital and environmental concerns of a counter-culture movement that developed to cross borders and become a worldwide system of lifestyle, belief and freedom. Now, the boomers are in their sixties and look back on a time that seems so long ago in one respect but not so long when they remember their young lives, how fresh-faced they were while getting involved in meaningful social issues. When I First Met You is a love song for boomers who are still together today, or have reconnected, or just want to reminisce on a time of love, excitement and change, and the promise of a better world for their children's children. Gone Troppo likes writing about such things.
