"It Was Dark for So Long We Thought We Were Dead" is another excellent work by Paul Rijnders, with help from Cheryl Amalfitano and Clause S. Whether you are more lyrically-inclined or musically-inclined, the album works great either way. From the amazing opening number "Cybershadows" to the bonus closer "How Could You Not Be My Friend", this album delivers great song after great song, as well as a variety of song styles to keep it from getting boring. Paul sings in a heartfelt style that evokes real feelings about the subject matter. This is what independent music is all about, and I can't recommend it enough.
And if you haven't picked up a copy of "Basura Blanca" yet, make sure you add that to your cart. It's a brilliant work that is at times whimsical, at times sad, at times funny and at times poignant, all packaged together with some unforgettable melodies. I've had that album for about 18 months now and it is never far from my CD player.

Independent music, that is how all music it should be done... This is the 2nd album from one of the member of the band Anything box and is a wonderful release as the 1st one Basura Blanca. There is nothing from Abox here on this cd, Paul has his own unique style of making music. Both of his release are pure joy for me and I can skip any track while I am listen to any of them. Great work Paul! and I hope woundn't be the last one.

One of the Best Releases of '09...

Paul Rijnders delivers what I I’d call one of the best albums of ’08 with his latest release “It Was Dark for So Long We Thought We Were Dead”. I could talk about just how well the songs are written… I could also talk about the way the songs are so brilliantly composed… But, I think the thing that really jumped out at me was the sincere emotion of the vocals. They really jumped on me from song to song rather it be the clever dance track “Machu Picchu”, the edginess of “Dead bee”, or the hauntingly beautiful track called “Cybershadows”. You need to get this album and play it very loud so your neighbors can share in the experience. Available NOW at www.adifferentdrum.com as well...
