With A Voice Like This Christmas
It all started with a song, Christmas Angel. It’s an a cappella Christmas Doo Wop tune I wrote years ago. A lot of people like it and I’ve always wanted a good recording of it to get it out there and heard. Things just didn’t happen that way. That was the seed of this project. I’ve also been working on websites for people and groups that I’m a part of, I’ve been looking at websites where you could sell your Do-It-Yourself (DIY) music projects and I’d become a podcaster.
Now all of these things going in different directions are a lot of work to keep track of and keep up to date and I was learning a lot. One day all of the information I’d been taking in feel into place and it just hit me. Why was I working on all these things separately when they could all be working together on one project? And that’s where With A Voice Like This (found at www.WithAVoiceLikeThis.com) and its kickoff project With A Voice Like This Christmas CD project was born.
I became the Artist, Composer, Arranger, Lyricist, Recording Engineer, Producer, Marketing Executive (including Branding Specialist), Documenter (as a Blogger and Podcaster) and New Media workhorse. The only role I didn’t take on was Graphic Artist.
I was far from alone. I got a lot of good advice and support from many friends and colleagues for which I’m very grateful. I initially gave myself the month of November to complete this. It stretched into December as projects do at times but one of the best things about a DIY project is that you have wiggle room because the person making the decisions is very understanding of your situation and I just wanted to get it completed.
So here is the result. The With A Voice Like This Christmas EP: six holiday songs, two of my own and four arrangements of traditional Christmas songs. I hope you enjoy them and I hope your Christmas is wonderful.
