  • Foot tapping fun!
    author: Laura T. Lynch, Kweevak.com

In addition to vocals, Andy also plays the harp, piano and the Dobro on this alternative country collection. His songs are well constructed and touched by retro rock and the blues. Gorwell's modern influences include Wilco and Son Volt. Andy is supported by other talented musicians on guitar, bass, drums and the pedal steel. Production and arrangements are clean and polished. Gorwell's delivery is a fine country twang of candid storytelling well accented with slide and picking guitars. His drawl is sweet and he harmonizes well with backing vocalist Jeff Samin. The best way to describe Andy's sound is the Rolling Stones go to Nashville. In fact, Gorwell's singing resembles Mick's and he pays tribute to the Stones with a concise cover of 'No Expectations'. Uprooted is a great title for his CD that incorporates traditional rock, country and blues genres into a contemporary set of fun foot tapping tracks!
