From the northern Mississippi town of Ashland, a miracle has taken place…not just one, but four have come into being. Namely, they are THE GOSPEL MIRACLES and their music is nothing short of miraculous!
The group members are: Johnny Hill - lead singer and is also a composer for the group; Larry Hill - first tenor, plays bass and lead guitar, occasionally sings lead and is also a composer for the group; William McCarley - baritone, also sings lead vocals for the group; Earl Smith - second tenor. Their mothers are sisters. Thus the group consists of two brothers and their two first cousins. For them it is truly a family affair.
The Gospel Miracles began their musical career by playing for their older sisters who also had a group in the early 70's. When the sisters got married and started families of their own, singing was placed on the back burner. So that's when the Holy Spirit spoke and The Gospel Miracles were born.
The Gospel Miracles have worked side by side in the recording studio with the late Frank Williams, Derrick Horne, Leonard Williams of the Williams Brothers, Dwight Gordon, Al Green and Grammy Award winning producer Willie "Pop" Mitchell of Hi Records.
The Gospel Miracles have released projects on the following labels: Ichiban, I AM Records, Intersound Records, and Born Again Records. Their project He Lives, reached the #17 spot on the Billboard Gospel Albums Chart and stayed on for 30 weeks. Their most recent project Break Through was on the Billboard Gospel Albums Chart for a consecutive 67 weeks. Break Through was also nominated for a 2006 Soul Train Award, and a Stellar Award. Moreover, this talented gospel group has made television appearances including Bobby Jones Gospel on BET.
In addition, they have shared center stage with such gospel greats as the Canton Spirituals, The Winans, The Mississippi Mass Choir, Shirley Caesar, Inez Andrews, The Pilgrim Jubliees, The Jackson Southernaires, Beau Williams, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Williams Brothers and the Spiritual QCs, among others.
