Album Notes

Govindas and Radha are California-based bhakti yogis and kirtan singers. They are a husband and wife team with great love and devotion for the Divine, their Guru, eachother, and life itself. This is the essence which is reflected and transmitted through their music. Through the sacred practice of kirtan, repetitously chanting the names of God/Goddess from ancient India, they guide you on a musical meditation and yogic adventure deep into the essence of Bhakti---the yoga of the Heart, the yoga of Love! Through the grace of their teachers, they have uniquely melded ancient Indian mantras with western melodies, yet still playing traditional Indian instruments. Their music has been described as a trance inducing mandala, where organic ambience, meditation, art, and prayer merge together as One. Govindas and Radha lead evenings of kirtan, bhakti yoga workshops, and transformative retreats throughout the world.

In January 2007, at the end of a 2 month spiritual pilgrimage through India, we were led to sweet little recording studio in Bombay (thanks to our friend Darshana Thacker and her beautiful family). We feel so absolutely blessed to have shared the experience of recording this cd with some of India's top musicians (Amit, Milind, Bhupal, Ankit, & Rahul Das). It was a beautiful time of making music and singing our prayers together. Their humility, sweetness, and laughter touched our hearts and (as you will hear) truly make this album what it is... After 4 days of recording together we would be leaving Mother India and heading back to California. What an amazing pilgrimage it had been. The only feeling left in our hearts was gratitude! We lie in Danda Pranam (full prostration) -in gratitude to all wonderful people that we had met, gratitude for all the of the teachings that we received, and mostly gratitude to this great ancient spiritual tradition of India!
