Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad is relentless reggae sound. Roots reggae and experimental dub. North American International Body Music.
From New York City to Jamaica; throughout New England, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware, and the Carolinas; through the Midwest, Colorado, Omaha, Chicago and everywhere else - Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad is bringing heavy vibration to well pleased rooms. In music halls, schools, bar rooms, and basements... indoor & outdoors, night & day, GPGDS is performing original music for all to find ground in.
Giant Panda’s explosive live show and impeccable musicianship are a force to be reckoned with. Consistently rewarding weekly events hosted by GPGDS have helped the band earn a strong following.
Giant Panda is honored to have shared bills with reggae greats Toots & The Maytals, The Wailers, King Yellowman, The Meditations, Mad Professor, and Edi Fitzroy. GPGDS has been joined on stage by members of John Brown’s Body, Brazilian Girls, Thievery Corporation, Umphrey's McGee, and String Cheese Incident. Giant Panda continues to put on concerts in their hometown of Rochester, NY featuring other modern American powerhouses such as Dub Trio, and Toubab Krewe.
The band’s first album Slow Down was recorded at Ithaca, NY's legendary Pyramid Sound Studio. Featuring Nate Richardson (formerly of John Brown's Body, Sim Redmond Band) on keyboards, "The album's 12 cuts work on a nearly physiological level to calm you down and cheer you up" says Tim Karan of Rochester Insider.
Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad is James Searl, Matthew O'Brian, Christopher O'Brian, Rachel Orke, Dylan Savage, Buddy Honeycutt, and Aaron Lipp. Traveling with the group in early 2007 are Josh Williams (video artist), and Michael Matties (live sound/recording engineer).
GPGDS is receiving regular airplay on Sirius and XM Radio’s reggae station “The Joint” as well as several college and indie stations all over the country.
Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad is a fully growing independent unit of friends, family, & truth seekers - committed to connecting great people with great music. Roots & dub for your meditation.

Cd is awesome thats all there is to it. Front man sounds a little like Brad from Sublime. Totally in a good way just one of those voices that you love to listen to over and over again. There isnt a bad song on the entire album. I was sitting around smoking with some friends one day and GPGDS came on and I was hooked the minute I heard them. The songs arent songs you'll get sick of easily either So enjoy!

These guys are from where?
author: TimToneArmThe cd is refreshing and listenable from start to finish. Easily the best local talent from Rochester.
roots reggae, flour city stylee
author: Get In The VanThese guys are from my hometown, I've been going to see them for about two years now, and they've always put on a legendary gig. I give this four stars, not five, only because this is a band that must be experienced live. Having said that, they've still managed to translate what they're all about into a recording, one that's well recorded and produced, and should be listened to by any lover of traditional reggae and/or ska music. The songs are melodic and soulful with thought provoking lyrics, and you'll want to put this on repeat at your next party. Well done.
YEAYYYYYYYYYYY
author: Marisa CapellI finally got the CD and its sooo awesome! I love it! I feel like I've been waiting for ever to hear it and it's great! I played it at the store I work at and so many people commented on how much they liked it...I was so proud of you guys!
Funky summer vibes
author: Jeteyereally tight album start to finish, no bad songs, great bunch of guys from upstate NY, sounds a lot like slightly stoopid or sublime but better, heavy funky beats, good vocals
Great roots reggae cd
author: BrandonThis is a great album from start to finish that really captures the sound, feeling, and revolution of traditional reggae music. Thoughtful lyrics, great hooks, and genuine authenticity = tight reggae cd for the summer (or any season).

Honest Music
author: illis to the WOne of the best releases of 2006, Slow Down will be stretching all previous limits on the reggae genre without disrespecting the root. Vocally suberb, Panda will be a force that no current reggae band or star will refuse. It is the freshest soul music since the 70's. Panda makes the sticky.....icky and is the perfect soundtrack for life.
I can't keep myself from listening!
author: HoffarthThis CD is unbelievable. Every track is great, the instrumentals are just right, and the voices are perfect.
GPGDS = amazing roots reggae
author: WilliamIf you enjoy Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Wailing Souls, Yellowman, General Echo, Ranking Toyan, etc. etc. etc. then you will love Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad. This is some seriously laid back reggae with a solid rythm and killer vocals. highly reccommended for anyone who enjoys reggae. If you dont like reggae though, this will be the CD to change your mind.
incredible, awesome
author: DKCBob marley mixed with sublime, need i say more?
- author: CD Baby
With just the right amount of mainstream appeal (just enough to bridge the gap between the pure roots style and more pop leaning approaches), Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad creates some of the freshest, most addictive reggae this side of Jamaica. With hints of Bob Marley, Fela Kuti and even in places, Sting, Slow Down's twelve songs are perfectly balanced in groove, melody, message and appeal. For reggae fans, this is one special album that shouldn't be missed.
ok so this album rocks. i love that i am able to listen to you guys in the car or at home. while i am cooking. everyone else that hears it likes it. so you did very well... you guys are awesome.
Enter The Giant Panda Dub Squad
author: SahmThank the Giant Panda Dub Squad for letting us in on their beautiful interpretation of Truth by buying this CD. These old souls poured their hearts, energy and young lives' worth of experience into 12 songs, and in the process made the world a little better place. This album is an oasis of Peace and thoughtfulness in a desert of noise and confusion. There is no excuse for missing the when they come to your area. Let them slow you down.
CRAZY!

Music is truth. Feed your soul these sounds of salvation
author: CurtisAlthough GPGDS has been performing for 5+ years, SLOW DOWN is their debut album. SLOW DOWN is filled with emotion and originality... 12 tracks of creative roots and dub reggae, with catchy harmonies and melodies, and soulful vocals courtesy of two lead singers. GPGDS is one of the most important REGGAE bands in North America. I have traveled far and wide to witness their experimental roots and dub sickness. They put on an unparalleled live show that any music fan would enjoy. GPGDS released this album independently without any record label or commercial backing. Their sound is pure and from the heart. Support an amazing group and pick up this CD!
Giant Panda deliver live and they deliver on "Slow Down"
author: QdoggSlow Down does exactly what it says. It slows you down. Seasons Change has been my jam for a year and it came out great on the album. Creation is amazing, Hiroshima is really intense, incognito is growing on me daily. This album is the launching pad to infinite status.GPGDS is ready to show people what the status is.
Ridonkulous. If you like reggae, you'll love SLOW DOWN.
author: P-DubsIt's great to finally hear these guys get into the studio. It's been a long wait, but definately worth it. The songs are tight, and the production values are awesome. The whole thing is very well put together. If you like reggae, you'll love SLOW DOWN.
Just what I need when it's time to 'Slow Down'
author: Mike MattiesNow I've been waiting a long time for this and now that it's finally come, I am not disappointed one bit. Since obtaining my copy at their release party, it has not left my CD player and will probably occupy it for a while longer. While 'Burkina Faso' gets a repeat everytime, the CD, from beginning to end, is a great way to start, spend, and end my day. Thanks guys!
