ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
George Palmer Macias' music career started in San Marcos, playing in a duo called the Bentwood Rockers with songwriter Doug Forbes at venues such as Cheatham Street Warehouse and Katy Station. He moved to Austin in 1982 and played his first Austin gig at Emmajoes, opening for Butch Hancock, and has played various Austin venues either solo or with The Regulars, The Fyre Flys, or the 56 Babies. He was a finalist at the 1989 Kerrville Newfolk competition. Reviewer Lynne Margolis of the Austin American-Statesman called his song, "You Turn My Light On," an "instant classic." Currently, he is playing various venues in Central Texas promoting his first solo CD, Firefly.

Smooth, sweet, succulent sounds. Great writing and clean vocals.

Texas Diamond in the Rpugh
Every song on this CD is GREAT! Infectious melodies complement intelligent, and often humorous, lyrics in a variety of musical styles. Shades of Roy Orbison and John Prine are evident, but the artistry displayed by Mr. Macias transcends mere mimicry - he is a genuine new talent with his own voice. I look forward to future offerings from this new Texas troubador!

George is the best!
His song "Who Paints Upon the Wind" touches my heart. Such a wonderful songwriter and vocalist. George can entertain them all.
