GRAINNE'S BIO:

The songs on Grainne's (pronounced Grawn-ya) new album "Looking For Sunshine" cover the breadth of the musical spectrum; Under This Blanket and Breathe It In bring echoes of sweaty, southern rock tones rooted somewhere far from the small community in Ontario from which she hails. Not Enough Love, on the other hand, carries a countrified-folk sound that showcases Grainne's clear voice (coupled with her sister Cora’s harmonies). The message of a world gone awry is buried in the chorus with a steel guitar and offers a view of Grainne's world views, as do other songs on the album, most notably, the bluesy Big Yellow Machines with its Beatle-esque finish.Where she is at her most honest - as a writer, a singer and a pure artist - is when her voice pairs with a simple acoustic guitar during the sweeping tribute, The Rain, and pulls upon the emotions of anyone who has ever lost anyone special in this life. Her debut album, All the Money, was released in 2007. It remains a beautiful collection of seven songs that soundly displays her range of talents. From Belgium and the Netherlands to Detroit and Toronto, the album received outstanding reviews from those keen ears who know where to listen to find graceful gems in a music industry continually bombarded with regurgitations and repetitive, formulated songwriting.

NOTES:
Grainne won 'Folk Artist Of The Year" and was nominated for best album ("All The Money") at the 2009 Durham Region Music Awards (Ontario, Canada). She was also nominated for "Best Country Song" and runner up for "Best Live" at the 2008 Toronto Independent Music Awards.
