The Galway Ramblers, as the name might suggest, are from Galway, Ireland. They like it there! In fact, some of them like it there so much, they were born there. Others of the band just drifted there and thought, "I like it here", so they stayed too.
Time passed and they began to meet in the fine music establishments of Galway, such as the Crane and Cooke's Thatch. They started playing music together, which is a fairly common pastime for musicians in Ireland. After a time one of them said, "Let's start a band", and the others said, "That's a great idea", so they did!
As the band was formed from the sessions of Galway, they decided to try and recreate the feeling of an authentic Irish Traditional Session for their audience. They seem to have been successful at this venture so far, but don't just take our word for it...hear some audio samples for yourself!
This CD was recorded during a live session in the historic Cooke's Thatch Bar in Galway City, Ireland, on a wet Tuesday evening during regular business hours. The music and and the people in the room were recorded "as is", and nothing has been edited or altered in any way.
