Grand Atlantic takes the world completely by surprize with the release of their latest album "How We Survive" 2009. They went big! They went bold! This album is 11 tracks of hits!! The sound is a brilliant mix of pop and rock. Their sound is unforgettable!! The lyrics are well thought out, painting a complete story in your mind's eye. 

Instrumentation is exceptional with guitar lead riffs & solo's to die for. The songs were chosen with care and flow nicely. An upbeat album encouraging the dance outta you immediately!! I dare you to try sit still while listening to How We Survive! If you have a heartbeat, its impossible!

Morgan Hann is amazing on those keyboards. He also plays guitars and is responsible for some of the backing vocals. There is no end to this man's talent and vinyl jackets !! 

The bass line played by Sean Bower is so precise it guides the cool right out of us. Yes, a man who can work a bass this good, is a definate keeper! Not to mention his skill at Home Brew!!

Mat Von Diehm is a killer on those drums. Fantastic! He will have you boppin on the dance floor in proper form. And you should see his hair! The talent of these men obviously pushing this album to the top with a bullet!!
 
Phil Usher has the most incredible voice. Sexy, mesmerizing and exciting! And his suits are not bad too!! What a perfect voice for these tracks. Phil is in complete control of the listener. It is so nice to hear 11 tracks and not once get the urge to skip ahead to the next track. Phil Usher holds us captive! Each track is exciting, breathing new life into us. My god Phil where have you been? 

The three tracks that light my world are:
1) Freeway Track 4. This is an upbeat song with strong well thought out lyrics. Phil Usher nails the vocals. He has the support of excellent backing vocals. This song is going to stay with you long after the album is finished playing. Instrumenation is tight!! Production is outstanding. Grand Atlantic is absolutely magnificent!

2) Just Another Ghost Town Track 7. The arrangement on this track spectacular! The intruments used in this piece add a fullness totally unexpected in this day and age of fast tracks. Absolutely wonderful! Lyrics are outstanding. Instrumentation is off the wall good! Another huge success!! Phil's vocals reminisent of the days when music meant something, they came in , rocked our worlds. Then left us craving for more. Yes, this is THAT good.

3) Tripwires Track 2 Another huge sucess!! Grand Atlantic rocks our world in a huge way on this track. Once again, lyrics are exceptional.
Phil Usher holds us hostage till the last note! His vocals are simply thrilling in this piece. This band uses sounds and intruments along side the guitars, keyboards & drums that you just won't expect. And it works! Not only works but will have you shaking what your momma gave you from the first line!! 

Since choosing these 3 tracks I could have easily changed my mind four times. This is one of the best albums I have heard this year. Bravo Grand Atlantic! You have everything a listener could possibly want from an album. An Exceptional Band!! An exceptional Album!
