Album Notes

I grew up on a farm in Southeast Iowa and attended Bladensburg Christian Church, where the Kesselring family (including my grandparents) has been a pillar of the church community for years. Today, my Grandma Kesselring lives at Sylvan Woods, an assisted living facility, where I visit and sing -mainly church hymns - for her and anyone she can gather. I told my grandma last year that I liked the "old chestnuts" in her hymnal since they aren't heard that much anymore. She in return, gave me the book as a Christmas present. I then had the idea of recording a few hymns for her birthday present, but in talking with some friends, I decided to produce a CD. I chose the finest musicians from Lake View Presbyterian, (where I currently attend), and my other talented friends. Collectively, we put The Grandma Project together. Originally, a CD for Helen Kesselring's birthday, The Grandma Project contains songs that have been special to the grandmothers of the other musicians as well. -Kara Kesselring
