Album Notes

Featuring Nathan Granner of the Sony Classical recording artists, "The American Tenors."

This recording features the works of Franz Shubert,
Herni Duparc, Claudio Monteverdi, Mauro Giuliani and Reynaldo Hahn.

Beau and Nathan first met at the Kansas City Conservatory of music where they kept each other highly amused during a semester of music history class. Through their academic experience and countless mutual musical engagements since then, they have become close friends and musical compatriots. Between each other's various professional activities the two play together in cafés, concerts, and tango dances in and around their home of Kansas City usually with other musicians of similar mindset. When the idea of "We really need to record some stuff." finally became urgent enough to enact upon, they had a large, diverse repertoire to chose from. Beau and Nathan live across the street from each other and consider each other very close friends, so the fact that Franz Schubert and Mauro Giuliani were also close friends became the principal inspiration for the programming of this recording.

Soothing, refreshing, very pleasant CD-I enjoyed it very much

I love the combo of Mr. Granner's voice with Mr. Bledsoe's guitar. The Schubert tunes are very upbeat; the DuParc are sad, and my favorite is the Hahn cut (#16). It is so beautiful with the violin and Mr. Granner's voice is so haunting and so touching, and Mr. Granner's interpretations of all of the songs is just first-rate. I would recommend this CD to anyone, even if they are not into classical operatic music.

The CD was put together very well so that the music progressed to the final selection, La Barcheta, which was head and shoulders.

If you love the tenor voice, you must have this CD! Granner's tenor voice along with Bledsoe's classical guitar just melts together in lows and sweet highs. I play this CD when I'm driving and stressed. It never fails to bring me back to earth in a wonderful relaxed manner. The music is rare. You won't hear these selections unless you search high and low...and why should you when you have this great CD. Your classical music collection and your tenor collection won't be complete without this CD!

I was not an opera fan until I hear Nathan Granner sing, and I was not familiar with any of the songs on this CD. But now I hum them all the time. The combination of Bledsoe's excellent guitar work and Granner's voice cannot be beat. I play this while driving and at home and at work. This is a quality CD, thoroughly enjoyable.
