I don't sing
or write lyrics
improvisation oozing into composition
real performances
by real musicians
on real instruments
but we are not 'jazz purists'
and this music has nothing to do
with the Grateful Dead
or any of its fallout
this music is about individualism
and freedom
like jazz and the avant garde
but for today
I believe anyone can be creative
if you start young and stay honest
keep at it and express your changes
that's what I've done
as well as the guest musicians who appear
we do not indulge in narcisism, politics,
academia, or commercialism
we look outward to the terrain of music
and get down
let the music speak

This is the funk of the west coast, dangerous and free of cliche. A diamond in the rough. Good for listeners and musicians alike. Thank God not another bass wank album!

Ridiculous!

I can't believe an album like this can come from modern day live club dates. The musicians sound telepathic and everyone shines. There is so much energy and funk, but its not the same old party music, these guys are thinkers. And Clarkson's bass playing is off the chain, and its not from studio tinkering but right there in person and you can feel it! Unbelievable until you hear it for yourself.
