Album Notes

This album was recorded over the course of three days in October '99.

"Ladies' Love Oracle is me in the raw, me in the dark, me in the basement.

Sometimes a sketch says more than a mural." - Grant-Lee Phillips

Ladies' Love Oracle may be said to be comparable to other works by Grant Lee Buffalo (particularly the more acoustic outings) and comparable, in the sparseness and spontaneity of its production, to certain early John Lennon solo recordings as well as Robyn Hitchcock's acoustic based LP, "I Often Dream Of Trains."

I was dissappointed in the cardboard sleeve packaging and i am going to get a real cd case for it because the cd keeps sliding out onto the floor. But the music is beautiful...Lennon-esqe in spots...I found myself swaying...feeling very peaceful. Tough to sell to the zombies in this Mtv day, but anyone with a soul will feel it and love it.

I'll give a star for the voice, one for the production and one for the songs - which is not at all his best work to come. The songs are small pieces of stipped down mellow folksongs, which I love, but I need them to be more melodic and more caracteristic. They don't stick out and you tend to hear the cd like background music without focusing on the individual song. Sorry guys...I know you love it - I do too, in my on way, but can't wait for future GLP albums...
