Album Notes

Grassmarket consists of three young musicians who take their influence from early American folk music, southern Appalachian, Scottish, and Cape Breton fiddle tunes, and contemporary singer/songwriters. Multi-instrumentalists, they cover ground on banjo, guitar, fiddle, mandolin, double bass, trumpet, and harmonica. Whether they're playing bluegrass standards, clawhammer tunes, or original songs, Grassmarket's passion for traditional music is clear--and contagious. Their live show consistently converts city-dwelling skeptics who'll listen to "anything but country" to unabashed Hank Williams and Doc Watson enthusiasts. Their first EP, Waiting, is a collection of seven original inspired by the traditional music Grassmarket loves to play.
