Album Notes

Grass Withers hails from the small independent music scene of northern Missouri. The band is comprised of two college students, Jerry Jones and Brad Smith, who attend Truman State University. Each plays acoustic guitar as well as various other instruments, drawing influences from various indie-rock, acoustic, and folk artists creating a blend of melody-laced stories and soliloquies that may remind listeners of Damien Rice, Ben Lee, or Rocky Votolato. They lean toward introversion, producing intimate shows and sincere lyrics, and prefer to make their music over talking about it. Growing in popularity, this duo has finished one full-length album, “To The Sound of the Tempest” and is currently working on a series of EP’s that will follow various lyrical and musical themes drawing on their own lives, resulting in both literal accounts and fantasies.

I'm very glad I found this band. They are totally unknown, but make great songs. One of my favorite CDs in the last month - wouldn't want to miss it again.
