Brothers Matt & Dave "Dirty" Johnson have been playing (separately) in bands like Pushin Daisy's, Xplicit Citizen, and Chatterbox around Michigan for the last few years. In 2004 they found themselves in the same band at the same time. That band was Graveyard Tan.
Founding members and brothers, Matt and Dave "Dirty" Johnson, knew it would take more than just singing and playing ability to move their dream of a music career forward. Matt and Dave recruited veteran vocalist Eric Schmidt of Edge, Who's Jamie. Percussionist Mike Sylvester, cousin and lifelong friend was an obvious choice for drums. After receiving a rather “unique” recommendation from his school music department, Mike set out to prove them wrong. And that, he has done, Mike is a very big sounding drummer and has years of experience, playing in various bands, with Matt, Dave, Eric & Chad at separate times.
The chemistry was right and off they went. Together, these four entrepreneurs embraced the struggle that a career in music has to offer. They realize every step must be forward.
It's easy to understand why Graveyard Tan has taken giant leaps forward in the music industry. Four members have melded together their enthusiasm, talent, aspirations, goals, and performances to develop Graveyard Tan into an experience.
"We could tell by the response of the crowd at our first live show that we had something cool happening". The band is amazed at their success playing some of the biggest venues in the state and opening for national bands like Saving Abel, Theory of a Deadman, LA Guns, Drowning Pool, Saliva, & other's.
There is constantly something big on the horizon for the band. Their excitement follows them onstage and shows in every performance.
Graveyard Tan immediately started writing and performing original music. Without management or financial investors, Graveyard Tan has excelled themselves in self promotion and performance. They have shared the stage with such artists as Pop Evil, Saving Abel, Another Black Day, Theory of a Deadman, and L.A. Guns to name a few. Graveyard Tan has created a solid fan base through- out Michigan and wishes to expand this base nationwide.

Graveyard Tan Experience
author: Big Papa
For those, who haven't heard Graveyard Tan's music before, they're one of the more creative rock groups of our time. This is not difficult to believe, when you look at each of the band members and realize they have had extensive experiences touring in several different bands together and separately the last few years.
Graveyard Tan have always been a daring band with a common goal of moving forward. Surprisingly they didn't title this album. An apt decision, which is explained by Matt “This album is just a sample of our upcoming full length album, and we are just throwing it out there to give people a chance to explore the Graveyard Tan Experience.”
The music is quite experimental, yet the songs are catchy and flow well. The material is of quite steady quality, and in my view there aren't any obvious standout tracks - instead these songs improve with time and they are enjoying an active rotation on my CD player.
All in all, Graveyard Tan’s release is a well-produced record showcasing the talent of Dave “Dirty Johnson”, Matt Johnson, Eric Schmidt, and Mike Sylvester.
