Album Notes

If you like wah pedals and songs about mexican food then look no further: Gravy Monster & Cactushead have a sound that could only be described as "delightfully awful." From each off-key note to each unnecessary guitar effect, GM&C are a sure thing if you're looking to change the way you feel about beauty. Critics have described them as "The B-52's and the Proclaimers meet The Eagles." On vocals and keyboards is Will Turner, the patron saint of untalented hacks everywhere. Will Jameson, a guitar virtuoso, lends his talents and songwriting to create the sonic equivalent of sweet and sour sauce. Keeping the beat is the mysterious figure known simply as "The Boss." Some say he is deaf. Some say he is also blind. He rarely gives interviews but he does beat the skins with almost robotic precision.

Disappointment is a celebration of things going wrong and things getting worse. One night during one of the sessions for the album, somebody attempted to order a pizza. It was unfortunately the wee hours of the morning and none of the pizzarias in Saint Louis were still open. "What's something that delivers 24 hours?" somebody asked. "Disappointment?" responded Cactushead.

Fast forward to the present and the band has come together to present the world with a collection of 13 songs that celebrate disappointment on a far more gut-wrenching level than simply being unable to order food in the middle of the night. This album stretches all round the musical spectrum. From the jazzy opening of the Disappointment Suite to the country romp of Heart-Aching Cowboy Song to the slam-poetry-metal of Woman!, the fourth album from GM&C is destined to make you never so glad to be so disappointed.
