NOTES
About the first discographic production of www.tar.gr
“There was a lot of sense in our decision to call upon younger guitarists from different schools and different backgrounds to provide a different perspective on the Greek repertoire for this instrument. Both the works and the performers were very carefully selected. I worked on this material for nearly two years, together with Kostas Grigoreas (he worked even more than me, since—being a hi-fi technology aficionado—he undertook to edit, in many cases to record and to thoroughly organize the material, to balance it, to perfect the sound where necessary and bring it to the highest possible standard). Our point of view (Kostas’ and mine) is that some sober thinking about discography is, for the present, the only way that, together with live appearances, will provide opportunities to Greek guitarists to show their high standard of performance. It will bring audiences into contact with Greek works that, in most cases, would otherwise remain in obscurity. It will form a rare discographic repertoire at a time when the absence of ideas reigns in the field of discography. In its own way, it goes against today’s discographic establishment, which remains totally indifferent to the Greek guitarists as well as the Greek repertoire”.
Notis Mavroudis, editor-manager, TaR magazine

REVIEWS

"...A fascinating panorama of Greek music for the classical guitar, ideally performed by some of the best Greek guitar soloists"
Effie Agrafioti, TaR Magazine

“…The album “Greek Guitarists play Greek Composers” could be described as an oasis among the inferior products of modern discography… and therefore we recommend it without reservation”
Thanos Mantzanas, ‘Avgi’ newspaper

“…Greece has some outstanding composers. The Greek classical guitar school is one of the best in the world. And that is what this album confirms”.
Hryssa Sofrona - e-orfeas
