Album Notes

“The Greencards, while also technically breathtaking and acoustically driven, inspire comparison primarily because they have consistently moved towards a sound of their own.” - Country Universe (April ’09)

“an exploration of folk-based acoustic music, endlessly inventive and musically restless yet consistently engaging.” - BlogCritics Magazine (John Taylor)

“One of the most inventive discs you'll hear this year.” - Austin Chronicle (April ’09)

“Fascination, may be their most inventive yet - his musically curious album more than lives up to its title.” - Paste Magazine (April ’09)

“It is arguably one of their most solid efforts to date and a perfect follow-up to "Viridian." - Today’s Country (April ’09)

“Fascination telegraphs it's melodies deliberately and patiently, creating a quietly confessional tone well suited to Carol's intimate vocal approach and Jay Joyce's tastefully restrained production." - Country Weekly (April '09)

Excellent
author: David Rathofer
I discovered the Greencards because someone left a pirated CD on a friend's boat. That led to my addiction, the purchase of every one of their albums and concert tickets. It also meant I shared them with my parents who also bought all the albums and concert tickets. So lets hear it for lost pirate booty. Fascination is a great album, the band is stretching out a bit and experimenting with different sounds more than they have in the past, but it works. I first heard the song "Fascination" at their Marin County show prior to the album's recording and I was captivated during the performance. This isn't music that I can just play in the background, I feel compelled to sit and listen. I turn off the phone, put on my hi-fi headphones and just fall into the music.

Amazing!

This album is amazing! As much as I loved "Viridian," and I still do, I can hear a huge change in the tone of this disc. I love how The Greencards can and do tackle so many musical styles. Carol's vocals are breathtaking and the instruments each have their own "voice": this all adds up to a terrific album.
