A menagerie of Yiddish songs for children
This is a wonderful collection of children's songs about animals. The songs are sung in Yiddish by Paula Teitelbaum and Lorin Sklamberg (of the Klezmatics), joined by other world-class klezmer musicians Lauren Brody, Jeff Warschauer, Adrienne Cooper, Henry Sapoznik and Frank London.
You do not need to know Yiddish to enjoy this CD! The CD comes with a 42 page booklet featuring all the lyrics in Yiddish letters, transliteration and in English translation. The booklet features beautiful papercuttings by Adam Whiteman.
Unlike other children's recordings, this is not cutesy. These are top-flight arrangements by some of the world's greatest Yiddish song interpreters. NOT JUST FOR KIDS!!!!

great recording for children AND grown ups
author: Günther Schöller
This is a very nice collection of songs, that are performed with much love and expertise. If you like the voice of Lorin Sklamberg, of Klezmatics fame, you should get this. Although all songs deal with animals, not all of them are just plain children songs. Some of them could also be found on the next Klezmatics album for instance.
Also mentioned should be the accordion playing of Lauren Brody, that is backing up the singers and fits perfectly. The arrangements are done with a lot of humor.
