ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Hatched from the same scene that spawned revolutionaries like the Violent Femmes, Citizen King and Promise Ring, Greenscene is the Midwest's latest torchbearer of originality. The job of Milwaukee's musical ambassador to the outside world has carried Greenscene from coast to coast, while sounds resonating over national/international airwaves are treating the groove-hungry globe to one funky nugget after another.

Lately, Greenscene has been pressing its musical footprints into the soil of the "jam-band" and "indie-rock" scenes, despite the controversy that comes with each of those categories. In 2001, Greenscene proved it was catchy enough to capture the love of a strange crowd 1,000 miles from their home. After astounding a panel of judges the band received their highest honor to date in taking the crown of Jim Beam's Best Unsigned Band in America from among 1,500 hopefuls. The year that followed was a tiring one for the green minivan, which carted the band in excess of 35,000 miles, to 18 different states.

In addition to bringing the funk to the nation, and harvesting fresh crops of greenheads in every city they land in, Greenscene has also shown many executive types that they now can put "killer grooves" next to "beer & cheese" on the list of Wisconsin's finest exports. Showcases at SXSW, Music Fest Northwest (formerly North by Northwest), NEMO, Millennium Music Conference, EAT-M, and NACA have helped Greenscene cultivate fruitful relationships with high profile personnel in every corner of the industry.

Greenscene's unique sound, extreme versatility, and ability to electrify audiences have been responsible for many great opportunities, but the band's positive attitude and professionalism are evident as well. Greenscene has shared the stage with such national acts as Umphreys McGee, Psychedelic Breakfast, Cornmeal, Citizen King, Pseudopod, Bif Naked, Lucky Boys Confusion, and Glenn Tilbrook. While Greenscene's fan base and reputation continue to grow, the touring gets heavier, and the grooves get deeper.
