Calamity and uncontrollable circumstance is what waits outside our door. It’s enough to make a man lock himself away for days on end. But in doing so, we cut ourselves off from love and friendship and all the small, lovely moments awaiting us in the uncertainty and vicissitudes of the world. Still, it’s hard to wake each day and not be gripped – chest tight, mind chattering – by all the might-be’s and could-have-beens. Handguns plows directly into these hard fields, clear-eyed and determined to break new ground as it tears up the weeds and bullshit in our collective path. It is unflinchingly acknowledged that where there is beauty there is also pain, but we must make our way into the day-to-day malaise just the same.
