"SOMETHING" is Peter Greenstone's debut album. Writing and recording music over the course of 2005 Peter produced this eclectically moody album at his home in Austin, performing, arranging, and mixing the music by himself. The music ranges in style from upbeat rock to the darkly epic and surreal, from acoustic simplicity to massive and lush hybrids of orchestral, electronic, and sometimes exotic arrangements. It's a journey through an ever-changing musical and lyrical world that draws you in deeper and deeper.
The CD is factory-pressed and features a 12-panel color insert of original artwork and lyrics.
"From the opening moments, when it fades from a radio broadcast into the genre-defying Schrodinger’s Cat, you know your are in for a unique musical ride, something you can’t find on mainstream radio. The tracks are clean and inventively mixed, highlighting Peter’s unique, compelling voice. Something about the way he sings, his crafted turns of phrases, his authentic stylings, you simply have to listen." - Tobin Mueller

Stunning, gorgeous voice...

I love this album. Peter Greenstone is a one-man tour de force whose musical diversity is astonishing and whose intelligent and heartfelt songs are carried along by an impulsive energy. The musical styles on the album are too varied to summarise but to say he does something like Pink Floyd with modern rock sensibilities wouldn't be too far off the mark. There's a gradual mood shift over the course of the album, which opens with the infectiously bouncy 'Shrodinger's Cat' and ends with an extraordinary 10-minute multi-layered instrumental whose passion and depth of feeling brings me close to tears. The CD is lavishly produced (both the packaging and the music). But what stands out most for me is the vocals, which are distinctive, passionate and clever ... he's been very creative in getting exactly the right expression into every line. And another thing. His voice is just absolutely gorgeous. I mean REALLY gorgeous. I'd have bought it for that alone.

Impressive, cohesive debut.

Not everyone can pull off a CD with as varied subject matter and styles as "Something", but Peter Greenstone managed to do that, from the infectious "Schrodinger's Cat" that kicks it off (not many could pull off using the word "evanesce" in a song, but it works here) to the sweetly reflective "Stars on My Ceiling". This CD holds together well. The packaging is stunning as well - haven't seen to many big labels doing this nice a job lately.
