Album Notes

Rock music, Pop music...whatever the kids are calling it these days. Bacharach to Beefheart, Black Sabbath to Brian Wilson...it's all cut from the same cloth, just woven into different strands. Evoking the rock and roll from1965-1975 yet with 21st Century consciousness (oh yeah!), this music does not sound like anything anyone else is doing! Beautiful, slamming rock and roll, played and sung with reckless abandon, JUST FOR YOU, on this groovy, new, dynamic MONOPHONIC**, HIGH-FIDELITY recording!!! ----POW!!! ZAP!!!
artist's note-"For many years i played, sang, wrote and recorded songs with my wonderful, rocking band. "The Corndogs". We toured, recorded and wrote songs with Toronto's, famed, Cowboy Junkies, as well as opening for legends like Eric Burdon, The Troggs, Johnny Winter, NRBQ and many other brilliant and notable artists!. We also made some great albums, which will soon be, once again, available!!( on CD Baby!!-will keep you posted). I have a new band, now, called Greg Clarke and the Madvarks and you can check us out at madvarks.com. This is my 2nd solo album and i feel it is the best 2nd solo album i've ever made. In fact i do believe it is the BEST 2nd solo album anybody's EVER made in the history of recorded music!! Just listen... and i'm sure that the next time someone asks you what your favorite brand of entertainment is, you'll be sure to say "GREG CLARKE, RHAPSODY!!"*

*Have i ever steered you wrong?
** I like mono because, like Brian Wilson said, you can't change the contents of a painting. What's there is intended to look that way and not meant to be altered.
It used to annoy me, when stereo was a new thing, how someone would turn the balance knob and the mix wouldn't sound right. You can't do that when it's in mono.
George Harrison once said that the mono mix of Pepper stomps and rocks way harder than the stereo. Johnny Winter cut his stuff with Muddy in mono and it kicks!! Mono is better!!
But I don't have to tell you that. just buy my album, play it loud and hear for yourself!!

REVIEWS

a most unusual groove

The dominant mood in Greg Clarke's mesmerizing album, Rhapsody, is--for lack of a better word--mellow. But it's not your ordinary mellow: it's a big, broad, deep mellow; a shimmering, reflective pond from which Greg Clarke coaxes a huge range of emotions and a whole Juke Box worth of musical styles. It starts with a Rogers and Hammerstein cover, for God's sake, and ends with (as the title foreshadows) a swirling, psychedelic rhapsody. The songs on this CD seem to me to be the soundtrack for a movie that hasn't been made yet. I don't know what plot line would weave its way across this vast musical landscape, but whatever it is, I hope that someday I get to see that film.
