Greg Weeks has amassed a fervent following through his steady approach to folk melodies with beautifully fingerpicked guitar. Awake Like Sleep is like a lost sixties chamber folk record, filled with vintage instrumentation and old-timey strange song goodness. One must go to McDonald And Giles' self-titled one-off or Comus' First Utterance for something comparable, but Leonard Cohen or Nico's work might not be far off either. It made the top ten list for 2001 of two critics who contributed to Village Voice's Pazz n Jop poll.
