Album Notes

Based on old-school R&B, it incorporates elements of funk, blues, Seventies boogie, and the occasional noodling. With Trube, originally from Tyler, on guitar and Farrell on keys, Greyhounds bring to mind the organ jazz of the late, great Jimmy Smith.

\"It\'s not jazz,\" explains Farrell. \"Not really. It\'s funk and blues.\"

\"It\'s what we each bring to the table,\" Trube adds. \"He brings the hip-hop and R&B stuff from growing up in L.A. I bring the blues, funky, east texas sound. I like to say we\'re like Hall & Oates meets ZZ Top.\"

Awesome Juke joint funk/soul/blues. Seriously, get this album.

Really, really good second album by these guys that put out a very strong, tough-to-follow debut album. 'No Mas!' is full of gritty funk and soul and there ain't much better way to put it. Bombastic drums and funky guitars prevail yet there are moments of slower and more tender emotions. Really good album. AND in a live setting, these guys kick arse!

This band has a very rare authenticity to them. I have seen them play live a few times and they have that rare ability to focus a crowded bar and get them into the music. The two minds behind the music trade off on vocals which add an dynamic quality to their range. There's plenty of bon vivant New Orleans vibing in their writing, as well as deep swampy soul, straight up my-woman-left-me Blues, the house-is-a-rockin' Funk and plain old Austin Texas rock and freggin roll all meshed up into one cohesive. This album is about the perfect thing to play at a party. Liberty, their second album, is also dope fresh.
