Sometimes we lose track of the gold we’ve been given as Americans. To pay tribute to the brotherhood, sweat, and community that made this country and that still exists beneath the madness of the everyday media frenzy, we offer these songs.

These are simple songs from a simpler time in this country, rendered with love and respect. We decided on instrumental settings for these songs so that the voices of the past could come alive in today’s world. We hope you can hear the beauty, calm, and heartache of bygone times in our versions of these beautiful old songs.

This CD is great works really well as background music for quiet work or play. If you have a coffee shop or small retail business, or are looking for music for your second-grade art class, these tunes have the right balance of energy and quietness to break the silence in a positive and constructive way.

The Grey Sky Boys are based in Portland, Oregon. We play traditional and bluegrass music for friends, coffee-houses, and small gatherings around the Pacific Northwest. Our goal as musicians is to awaken the common thread of community in the people we play and sing for, and remind our listeners of how much we share with each other. We love drinking good coffee and playing good old tunes.
