Album Notes

"Out of nowhere, a "let's go somewhere and I don't know where you're taking me. The strength I need is in the blood you bleed and the life you lead is the one I long for."
-Bethany Zuniga on "iMperfect"

Grey Sled is a young growing band with influences of Jennifer Knapp, Nickel Creek, Yellowcard, Alanis Moresette, Dispatch, Rusted Root and christain artists. All original music on the Far From Perfect cd.

-Epilogue-
Derek and Bethany met at Christendom College in 2002. Bethany flew out on a whim and landed in VA as a freshman. Derek was a sophomore at that same school. Gregorian chant was huge at this school and only a few "rebels" enjoyed praise and worship music. A rainy day brought some strangers together in a music room after the warm welcome by Bethany. Derek and Bethany never had any lessons on any of the instruments that they played and everything clicked musically before names were given. That night after hours of music, Derek asked to walk Bethany back and God was smiling. They never saw it coming.

Many sacrifices and huge lessons were given and learned throughout the years. Maturity met with talent and beauty met with beast and a wonderful thing happened: Grey Sled was formed.

When thinking of a name for the group we considered the meaning of our names: Derek means leader of men and Bethany's middle name is Grace. We thought led by grace was an album name (Our first one actually) and then we said what about "Grace Led" and Bethany said, "What like a red sled or a blue sled." And hence, the name was born. A few small projects were released into the world: Led By Grace, Past Of Our Present Futures, and Left Behind. We have written well over 40 songs together and apart.

Grey Sled has played in CA, GA, VA and NY. As of recentally, Derek and Bethany got married and have been living in an old hotel that was built in the early 1800s. This hotel has been the catalist for creativity in musical growth. Time will bear fruit from this dwelling.

It was an interesting time to try and make an album. It was recorded in CA and it has come out in the midst of an upcoming wedding and college graduation.

In the meantime, Grey Sled has been writing music and becoming much better musicians then when they first met. Grey Sled has met an missionary from St. Luke's in Buffalo and she is an amazing drummer.

You just never can tell where God is going to lead. The tough part is finding the trust to just let go.

BETHANY ROGERS - VOCALS, GUITAR
Bethany is 22 years old with a passion for playing guitar in her room with the lights out. She has lived in Buffalo, NY (originally a California girl) since July 04. She and her bandmate are newly married and loving the possibilities that music brings for their new life together. Most of her songs are lyric-intensive and honest. She uses music as her greatest tool of expression and looks forward to seeing how her thoughts/words/feelings/prayers might have a positive impact on someone else.

DEREK ROGERS - VOCALS, GUITAR, MANDOLIN
Born in Buffalo, homeschooled, graduated from college, married and playing in a band with his wife. These travels at a young age have been blessed with many well placed gifts and good times. Music with its unclenching beauty, life with its many thrills, and a heavenly power brave enough to touch a sinner has been an inspiration and a driving force for this band. Derek plays guitar, mandolin, djembe, and piano with an open mind for any music or instrument but loves acoustic driven rhythm. He has a bachelor degree in psychology with a foundation in theology that gives a balance to a crazy, wandering mind. But, as Tolkien said, not all who wander are lost.

I bought this cd, because a friend had mentioned it to me, to be honest I didn't know what to expect. But after one listen, I was hooked! This CD has been in my player for over a month now! It's almost like these two people are pulling you into their lives, telling you their story and send you on your way, and you are left hoping to meet them again! This is a wonderful CD, I can't wait to hear what they have coming next!
