Album Notes

The rootsy singer/songwriter from Michigan breeds modern styles with 70's rock and folk influences on his very strong, debut cd "Turn the Light On". The 11 song disc from Lazy "i" Records grooves tight with straight-ahead rockers "Cast Away", "Bizarre" and "Waterslide" and cools down nicely on melodic, lyrical masterpieces "21st Street Bridge" and "Waiting on a Mountain".

Devon Henderson of "Lake Superior Sounder" magazine, calls Griffin's standout voice a cross section
of an eclectic mix of artists, "I heard shades of 'Matchbox 20's' Rob Thomas, 'Led Zeppelin's' Robert Plant, even a little Tom Waits."

Great music! This is by far the CD I listen to most often. Usually when I purchase a CD, I like 2-3 songs from the entire collection - that is not the case with this one! I like them all. While listening to it over the weekend, my friends all liked the music as well - I believe they will be purchasing...if you don't have the CD yet, you must purchase it, you won't be sorry!

album is roots-based, slightly alternative, acoustic folk rock

Griffin's 11-song self-produced (via Lazy "i" Records) album is roots-based, slightly alternative, acoustic folk rock with a bit of a 70s edge. A little Zepplin, a little Diamond (Neil, that is). The keyboards, drum loops and funky guitar riffs keep it from being boring, and I can't help but be reminded of fellow singer/songwriter Rob Anthony. As it is with most music of this genre, however, it's a bit too slow for my personal taste.
