A twitchy blend of Americana and Punk that springs from simple, image rich lyrics with song subjects from an unrequited obsession with the first woman in space to a desperate plea to a cowgirl on the rodeo circuit.

The music of Jeff Grimes and the Broken Strings is fun, intelligent, lonely, uplifting, rocking yet sweet. You can dance, cry, laugh and make out to his CD "Violent Girl". His quirky writing is image rich and reflective of his influences. Bands like Love, Velvet Underground, Nick Drake, The Germs and The Byrds.
The nucleus of the Broken Strings is a group of four talented musicians:

Ian Conley - guitar, vocals, sometimes drums.Ian is a young, energetic and creative left-handed guitar player who learned to play upside down on a right-handed guitar while listening to The Stooges. His former band The Switch,a three piece, was, pure low-fi rock n'roll and put out a split 12inch with The Rattlesnakes. He also plays bass in the LA band Slowcoach.

i knew pat could write a song
author: patrick baylesA great rock album full of heart and soul.
author: Jason CoponThis album is an odd gem. It's a sweet blend of americana, folk, pop, and good old fashioned punk. There's a lot of heart and soul in this. Some songs are raw rock, some delicate pieces of the heart, some may take you to a strange place and leave you with bittersweet nostalgia for God knows what. An enjoyable piece all the way through.
