The GriotDrumEnsemble\'s (GDE) sound is \"refreshing!\" Tradition-based African diaspora music and folklore come together in an entertaining, informative and participatory mix. GDE\'s presentations are stimulating to the mind, body and spirit!
GDE members play a variety of traditional African and other diaspora instruments: Anthony \"Amoah\" Artis(played and studied in Cuba, Ghana & USA nationally)on Ashiko, shekere & bell; Blaise Zekalo(formermember of the National Dance and Drum Troupe of Ivory Coast, West Africa) on djembe, flute & balaphon; Komoyaka \"the King\" King (plays with national jazz legends through out the USA) on conga & djembe; and Khabir \"the Storyteller\" Shareef(national storyteller) on dnuns with bell.
