Album Notes

Kerry Grombacher’s “Sands Motel” album was recorded in Austin and New Orleans and features some of the best country and jazz musicians in those cities. The album’s title and the title song stem from the realization that he frequently passes Sands Motels as he tours the country for concerts. As an elegy to the tourist courts of the 1950s and 1960s, he began taking photographs of their signs as he came across these Sands Motels and he’s posted them at www.kgrombacher.com. In 2001, he performed a concert on the parking lot of the Sands Motel in Grants NM where the owner put his name on the door of Room 104!

Kerry's songs have been covered by artists including The Texas Trailhands, Duke Davis, Chris Chandler, Earl Gleason, Gary Prescott, and Trails & Rails.
