Album Notes
Father/Daughter Singer/Songwriter Surf Rock Band! Groundsea is the local term for the ocean swells that break onto the reefs of St.Thomas, Virgin Islands' Northside. Groundsea is St.Thomas' longest-running rock band, founded by Don Edwards in the late 60's. Joined in 2001 by his daughter, Ginny Edwards, Groundsea re-invented itself again. Long-time member Mike "the Surf", Evan Magee, and Michele Humphries make up the rest of the popular local band of surfer/musicians. Songs are written by Don, Ginny, and Mike and range from Rock to Country to Reggae. Groundsea has always been a "green band", in the 80's , Groundsea wrote the song "NO WAY! No Condos at Hull Bay", saving the favorite surf spot from being developed. On this album, "Save" has become the local anthem for Virgin Islanders working to save the untouched island, Hans Lollick, from development plans. The CD was recorded at Island Soundwork studios throughout 2003 and 2004 and was released on New Years Eve 2005. Groundsea can be seen and heard on St.Thomas and around the US and Brittish Virgin Islands as well as on local radio stations, NPR, local music stores and here on CD baby!
