Album Notes

In 1960 a unique show took place at The major concert venue in the city of Bristol, England....The Colston Hall. 2000 fans packed the place on December 16th to witness the best of the cities young Rock,n,roll bands & singers, even though not one of them had a recording contract, and some of the musicians were still in school ! Such was the popularity of local bands, when there was no such thing as a disco. let alone MTV, and when there was very little "pop music" on the then austere stiif upper lip Radio.
The show " Groups Galore" was repeated for the next 5 years with a varying line up of acts.
In 2000 most of the musicians who graced the stage all those years before were still active, and it was decided to organise a 40th anniversary " Groups Galore" ......amazingly the same line up that appeared at the original 1960 show once again rocked the house to the cheers & applause of 2000 fans.
" Groups Galore" was then repeated in 2001/2002/2003, there was no show in 2004 ( hey everybody was getting tired !) and then in December 2005 the last ever show took place.

This C.D was recorded live at the 2005 last ever " Groups Galore" & features the bands & singers who have flown the Rock,n,roll flag in the city of Bristol for 45 years. As a bonus just before the album was in the final stage of production a tape recording was discovered of the original 1960 show ! Although it was taped using an ordinary "domestic" reel to reel machine using just one microphone it was possible to salvage a few tracks to include on this C.D. The result is a wonderful piece of music history, but also one of the most rockin' rollin' boppin' jivin'in the aisles albums of this or any year.
