Album Notes

Formed in Washington, DC in 2002, grubspoon's brand of indie rock swerves between dark, fervent, yet epic hooks, and straightforward driving melodies that twist and morph into a frenzy of hectic vigor. The band has established a strong regional following (and a reputation to go with it) through its staggering live performances and extensive airplay on local and Internet radio.

grubspoon’s first of three releases, “the anger, the edge, and the joke behind it” (EP), was released in the Spring of 2004. Both singles from the EP (Swallow and Humility) received extensive airplay on Internet and local radio stations including Radio Wazee, Radioio, and Washington DC's only rock station, DC101. The band’s first full-length entitled “Happy Accidents” was released in June of 2005. Both singles from the record, Monster and Penance, received extensive airplay on Washington and Baltimore area rock radio, including DC101, 103.1 WRNR, and WHFS on LIVE 105.7, as well as airplay on numerous Internet radio stations. Additionally, Monster was selected and licensed by the A&E cable network for their hit reality series, Random 1.

In February of 2006, grubspoon released the much-anticipated “Concordia Discors” EP. A precursor to their upcoming full-length (expected out in the Fall of 2006), the EP takes their sound to a whole new level, proving that the band has the ability to not only rock its audience incessantly, but to be increasingly commercially viable as well.

grubspoon continues to tour, and are intent on expanding their sound and inevitably their impact on teenage girls everywhere.

Great CD, highly recommended! Similar sounds to Fugazi, especially the base in SWALLOW. If you like bands like Mediam and Fugazi, you will love Grubspoon! Buy It!!!
