Album Notes
‘Make A Stand’ is Gruhak’s first album

The music and lyrics were written by Ivan and Boris and it was arranged and produced by the band themselves. This original material ranges from easy and refined acoustic numbers through modern Blues-Rock to fast Rock and Roll. The arrangements have the dramatic progression and dynamic complexity in the style of the great Classic Rock period of the late sixties and early seventies.
If you like your music with the flavour of Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Doors, AC-DC, Pink Floyd, The Allman Brothers, Creedence Clearwater Revival, then you will love this album.

More About Gruhak

Gruhak are: Boris - Vocals/Guitar, Ivan - Solo Guitar, Robi - Bass Guitar, Luke – Drums

Genre: Rooted in the supreme musicianship of the Classic Rock era, Gruhak is a seriously talented, tight, live band. They are also very versatile and are able to produce modern material for younger audience.

Influences: Early black blues - Early rock and roll - British blues rock - American Southern Rock.

Sounds Like: Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Who, Jimmy Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Rory Gallagher, AC-DC, The Allman Brothers. They can really sound exactly like the above great classic rock bands . . . Don’t believe it?? – Check their vodeos on youtube/gruhak and judge it for yourself.

Experience And Achievements: Outstanding song-writing, composing, arranging and performing talent, honed at over 400 live shows in Croatia and Eastern Europe.
To atract worldwide attention Gruhak have uploaded some 20 covers of the Greatest Classic Rock Songs and achieved a cult status on YouTube as “The Best Ever Classic Rock Cover Band”.
In December 2011 Gruhak have won ‘The Band Of The Month’ on GSTV with overwhelming margin of 70% of the votes.

Greatest Strength: All band members are superbly talented and work exceptionally well together. However, the singer Boris is truly a force of nature, pitch-perfect at full vocal range and volume, with amazingly versatile color to his voice. As well as singing the lows at full vocal range, he also sings high notes without breaking into falsetto.

Ambitions And Potential: Gruhak are investing into PR to promote and sell their first album, to gain new subscribers to their websites and to increase their fan base to the extent that the worldwide live shows become a viable proposition.
This band has the potential to go all the way and to become a world-class act !!!

The Gruhak Sound: You hear exactly what you see on the stage and nothing more. The visual and sonic environment of this band is the simplest possible, there are no gimmicks !!
All Gruhak video and audio material, including their first album is DIY produced.
Note also that all Gruhak videos are a single take live recordings without any editing or enhancements.

What is Classic Rock and why have Gruhak chosen that old-fashioned genre?:
There is a lot of crossover when we talk about rock music sub-genres. However, historically, the primary Classic Rock period spans from mid 60’s to mid 70’s. It fits in roughly between Rock‘n’Roll and Punk. In its basic musical form, it is a sophisticated fusion of Jazz, Rock’n’Roll and Blues. During that period the musicians were rated by mastery of their instrument.
To play in a Classic Rock band you have to be a naturally gifted musician and a team player. You have to have an innate feel for your fellow players and always anticipate what they will do next, as there is a lot of free-form and improvisation going on, but always within a tight rhythmic and dynamic structure.
If we look at the present day Classic Rock scene, most bands that are active are still the original or derivatives of the old 60’s and 70’s bands.
The young rock bands of today usually play some glorified version of Punk, Metal or Grunge, where the lifestyle and attitude is more important than musicianship.
While growing up in Croatia, Gruhak were not a part of the western youth lifestyles and trends. When as young musicians they searched for influences from the west, the quality of musicianship was all that was important. It was obvious to them that the Classic Rock period, where the talent reigned supreme, was the one that challenged them the most. Hendrix, Clapton, Plant, Page, Gilmore, became their idols, and they wanted to pay a tribute. That is how they started playing covers in the local clubs, without any notion that they might one day become professional and write their own material.
It was the advent of Youtube that changed their fate. They uploaded some 20 videos of 'The Greatest Classic Rock Songs' and the rest as they say is history.

“What can I say, absolutely pure amazing talent. The covers are spot on and I haven’t heard an original that I didn’t like. There are just not any bands like Gruhak out there anymore. Keep it up I will be purchasing your album. Hopefully one day I will get the privilege to see y’all in the USA!”

John Reding posted on Gruhak's Wall :
“Your original songs are all hits! Hopefully someday I will be able to see you guys in the US. A absolutely perfect blend of artists!"

James Griffin posted on Gruhak's Wall :
"Hi Guys, just discovered you on youtube performing Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love. All I can say is I'm speechless!
Never have I heard such a close replica with a basic set-up. I've now listed to some more tracks by different artists, performed by yourselves, and yet again I'm blown away.
Keep up the good work. The world needs more decent rock bands like you."

Ben Cysiewski :
“SERIOUSLY you guys are absolutely fantastic! I cannot wait for your album to come out on a CD! I need one! I have been a huge fan of you guys on youtube for a long time. Your covers blow me away every time. Then I listen to your original material and it sends chills down my spine. You guys are keeping music alive! Keep up the good work and keep it alive and raw!”

wadkins@ :
“My friend sent me one of your you tube videos (since i've been loving you) then i checked out your site. You guys are SICK!!!! Maybe the best unsigned act I've ever heard (as an 44 year old ex-musician I've been around the block) top to bottom just fantastic! I've never been compelled to comment on a band before but this is an exception. This is the 1st time since hearing the Black Crows that I've been excited about r&r again. I guess I just wanted to drop the line and say thanks. I WILL be following you guys fo sho! Live it up.”

Mcairroc@ :
“By accident I stumbled on you guys on youtube. I'm 52 years old and Zeppelin has bin and always will be my number one band. You guys rock, I've heard a lot of bands do Zeppelin, but you guys are the best out there. Thank you for keeping the music alive. I will defiantly be buying your CD. I would love to see you guys live. Will you ever come to Toronto Ont. Canada?”

Youtube / dunndirtcheap:
“Ok I been listening for 2 weeks still cant believe my ears. I am a drummer 53 YOA grew up in the Deep South of USA came to Cleveland as a teen so I know Rock and Blues when I hear it. You guys got it - raw, sensuous, and yes, the whole is more than the sum. Don’t change nothin' for nobody its all just right. ROCK ON.”

Youtube / phlemberg:
“America is the only country that doesn't get it. I wish we had more of this in America, the record companies in America only look for the people who they think will make good sex symbols, not good music. All this rap and pop is annoying, we need to revive American rock!”

Youtube / classicdude17:
Jesus christ this is insane I’m glad that you guys started this band the music world needs change

Youtube / fgrah72:
“I don't usually post comments, and I have no personal musical knowledge or talent. But I have years of listening to and enjoying good music and performances, and you guys have just blown me away. Its one thing to play a song technically well and another to transmit a feeling to a person watching and listening. I have watched, listened to, and felt your performance. Looking forward to more. Great job.”

Youtube / makemarker:
“This is eternal music, not that twangy bullshit that people with no talent record. You guys are the best, let's all build a large guitar and blow those bitches away with a single note of rock and roll yeaaaaah.”

Youtube / thyfatherspirit:
“One of the best bands of classic rock that I've seen!!! You're definitely amazing and I should thank you for your attitude, it's clear that you love what you're doing. Your covers are great, but your own music isn't less remarkable, it has that flavour that reminds me of the good old times. I hope you get a contract soon but you know that music is all that matters, keep that in mind and you'll be legends...”

Youtube / hogben01:
“Absolute rebirth of classic rock, we have needed this for a long time, very nicely done. I seriously do not understand why you guys are not signed and doing gigs everywhere, you need to go to US or the UK where your music can be appreciated by many many more, I will pass your site onto everyone I know guys.”

Youtube / bermudablueboy:
“You Guys Keep Traditional Rock Alive & Can You Believe It Now Lives in Croatia! What You've Done Is Kept The Blues In Rock & This Is Where A Lot Of This Generation (In The West) Are Lost. The Blues In Rock, Pop & Reggae Disappeared In The Early Nineties, With Grunge & Has Not Returned. The Blues In Music Gives Us Emotion, Like What Each And Every Band Member Gave Us In Gruhak!!”
