Album Notes

Grupo Condor is a touring folk music ensemble that embodies traditional musical styles of all of Spanish-speaking America. Their concerts and school programs
focus on the blend of Spanish, African, and Native American influences that comprise this music. The contributions of these contrasting cultures have created a truly multicultural art form that serves as an inspiration to those communities who strive for peaceful integration of their own ethnic populations

The nature of Grupo Condor’s performance is ideal for those presenters looking to combine high-energy entertainment with an educational and multicultural dimension.

The instruments used by Grupo Condor are comprised of
three groups: The string Family of Spanish influence, The Flutes family of American influence, and the percussions of both African and American influences. Group members
discuss the instrument names and origins in-between songs and stress the importance of each culture’s contribution in
the formation of this enchanting music. Grupo Condor has been selected for the Young Audiences of Oregon & SW Washington roster guide since 1993 and for the RACC roster guide since 1999. They have showcased for Arts Northwest, WAAA, and NACA. In 2003 they were chosen for the Northwest on Tour roster 2002-2003

Currently residents of Washington and Oregon, Grupo Condor members are natives of Mexico and South America and are dedicated to the preservation of their musical heritage.
