"Quality music from London that's totally British, not just a carbon copy"
Straight No Chaser Magazine
Grupo X Remixed, the band's third album, features the vocal talents of soul/ jazz divas Lisa Millett and Julie Dexter and a variety of mixes from established and up and coming producers including Tony Nwachukwu (Burntprogress/ NEPA).
When Grupo X broke through in 2001 with their debut album "X-Posure", and much acclaimed single "Brand New Love", their individual and unique London blend of salsa, soul, bugalu and descarga won them many friends worldwide. From latin and jazz radio stations across the USA to a host of international club DJs (Louie Vega, Gilles Peterson, Osunlade, Patrick Forge, Bobbito Garcia, Rainer Truby, Nicola Conte, Jazzanova, Snowboy),"X-Posure" was much loved and played extensively. Quentin Tarantino was
so impressed he booked the band to open at the London premiere of Kill Bill 2.
The follow up album "Food For Your Latin Soul" continued where "X-Posure" left off, with heavy descarga, latin jazz, latin soul and bugalu. Journalist/ DJ John Child (descarga.com) said "Grupo X are at the top of their game....an album that veritably oozes with taste and flavour." Further single releases include X-Perience and Jonny's Bugalu on Loft, while Chicago's Still Music re-released Brand New Love
with remixes from Irfan and Patchworks in 2006.
Grupo X tracks have regularly appeared on compilations around the world. Licensors include: Ubiquity (USA), Lounge (Germany), Ocho, Tru Thoughts, Nascente, Freestyle (all UK), Avex Entertainment (Japan).
The band's music has been used to promote products from companies including Nokia, Far Coast (via Somethin' Else), Malibu and DSW Shoes Inc who licensed Jonny's Bugalu for their Summer '07 commercial across network US TV.
Grupo X Remixed sees the band exploring new directions, with favourite tracks given fresh perspectives. Spare Ribs gets a dancehall reggae makeover; Get Through To You gets a soul funk varnish, while
Idolize (formerly Eye2Eye) receives a jungalist boogaloo respray. We travel through the deep, jazzy house of New Love, For a Life and X-Perience past the remastered rays of Sunshine to the urban minimalism of Dare to Dream, DJ Tony Nwachukwu's interpretation of the album's first track, Whatever You Dream (You Can Begin) recorded in 1999 and never before released by Grupo X.
