Album Notes

The trio of Bob Boyers on piano, Steve Maricle on bass and Jim Douglas on drums first began playing together in 1995. Group Therapy Jazz Trio soon started performing at local events, receptions and supper clubs. They became a regular feature in the rotating jazz groups appearing at the Downtown Athletic Club in Eugene, Oregon, as well as playing for special public and private events.

With the addition of Tim Clarke in 2004, the Group gained their now solid sound as a jazz quartet. Tim's trumpet and flugelhorn styles are innovative and lyrical and always a compliment to the original, while taking on a new feel to otherwise familiar tune. While the lead is tossed back and forth between piano and horn, the bass and drums provide the solid support and accents that distinguish this jazz quartet as the 'straight ahead' favorite of many music fans of all ages. The occasional mellow ballad or 'up' tune sung by drummer, Jim Douglas, adds some warm spice to the music mix. Many of the arrangements are done by Bob Boyers, who has been playing jazz for several decades, and has many tunes in his memory to recollect and figure a new twist or different rhythm for a fresh sound.
