Gentleman Tim is vocalist and harmonica player Tim Corbett. The Contenders are Geoff Peel on guitar, Rob Pokorny on drums and Husnu Dogacan on bass, aided and abetted by Pete Nash on Hammond and piano, Jeff Cater on bass and studio owner Mike Thorne on drums. Tim is a harmonica player’s harmonica player, a technical master with a strong singing voice to go with it, equally adept on acoustic or amplified, and much admired by his peers who often turn up to see him play. Geoff Peel is his equal on guitar and specializes in the arch-top guitar sounds in a tradition that runs from T-Bone Walker and Pee Wee Crayton through to the modern exponents such as Junior Watson, Alex Schultz and Charlie Baty. The various rhythm sections formed for this record provide excellent backing in all situations.
“This band never fails to please. It has a fine blend of pure entertainment and musicianship. Tim and his musicians are constantly striving for perfection and they get as near to it as anyone around.” (Bill Smith, Blues In London magazine)
"This band has a wealth of experience in British Blues and it shows itself to good effect here. Fronted by "Gentleman" Tim Corbett who has vocal and harmonica duites they produce a polished selection of west-coast swing, embellished by some keyboard boogie from the wonderful Pete Nash. Pete guests on five of the fifteen tracks and another of the guests is drummer Mike Thorne, who also did the mixing...Standards such as 'Don't Start Me Talking', 'Born In Chicago', 'Bring It On Home', and 'Mellow Down Easy' are joined by one original, 'Ringside Boogie', a catchy instrumental penned by Nash, Corbett and guitarist Geoff Peel...this CD is well worth exploring by anyone who likes music of the era. The more upbeat songs are complemented by some lovely Gibson guitar and beautiful, soulful harp." (Alan Harvey, Blues Matters, Feb/Mar '07)

Sharp as a razor! Well arranged, slickly executed, cool swingin' and hard shuffling blues.
