The album that emphasizes the intellectual component of the Urban community, American Scholar is G.'s sophomore album. Not a response to Jay-Z's American Gangster, but this album is more like the opposite of the same coin.

Album Notes

American Scholar is the follow-up to G.'s solo debut, The Chancellor. Yes, American Scholar is a play on the title of Jay-Z's last effort, American Gangster. But it is not a dis album or a treatise on street culture. It is, to the contrary, a celebration of Black American academic culture, a culture that is just as vibrant and prevalent in the Black community but scarcely represented.
With lead singles "Playoff Beard" and "A Fool Can Never Play," this album will explore the intellectual side of hip-hop.
